Interview #2

Good morning everyone. I'm sorry that I've been lax this week on posting first thing like I usually do-we've had hours and hours of meetings at work each day and I haven't felt like writing at night when I get home. Next week should be much better.
Hottie Brian in Mpls asked me the following questions:
1.) If there was one dish that you could make that would sum you up to the word what would it be? (Would you cook it for
Apple Pie a la Mode. With lots of fresh apples and cinnamon for spice...And yes, I would cook it for you. ;)

2.) If you and your life were a recipe how would you make it and what would be the ingredients?
It would be a braised dish, for sure. Braising take a tough piece of meat and slow cooks it until the meat is perfectly cook; falling off the bone and tender. It would probably be chicken, because at the core, I am a traditionalist, but it would include ingredients such as chili peppers and cilantro for spice and depth but also pineapples or some other sweet aspect for the fun of it. It would be served with the creamiest mashed potatoes for comfort.

3.) In twenty words or less what would you want your tombstone to say?
Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die...
(I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glint on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning hush, I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circling flight. I am the soft starlight at night.)

4.) You have unlimited resources to realize one dream in your life. The realization of this dream last only 24 hours and after that you will die. What is the dream that you would like to realize and why?
If I am to be honest with this question, I would say that there is no dream of mine that I would like realized for only 24 hours-not one that is worth dying for anyway. Any of the major dreams I have such as fighting hunger or squashing illiteracy would benefit much more if I were alive, fighting for the cause. To me, the big picture is more important than just "One day" of Utopia.

5.) If you had a pardon from the highest person in the universe that says you could kill one person and totally get away with it including no one would know it was you who killed that person. Would you do it? If so, who would you kill and why?
No. I would not do it. First of all, I don't think I have it in me to kill someone, but also, I don't hate anyone. And the people I dislike-I don't dislike them enough to kill them-even if no one would ever know. You can't hide much from God...

Last night was my first day at the country club-I LOVE it.

I can already tell that it was a very smart decision for me to leave the restaurant to go work there. It's a more traditional kitchen in the sense that the hot line is in the back and not out in the open, and so the dynamics are different. It's a huge space, so there are no worries about who gets what area to work in. The dishwashers are right behind you, so you don't have to carry your things very far, and there's no shortage of knives, bowls, sheet pans...the things that we were always looking for at the restaurant. And, the kitchen has huge built in fans in the ceiling and it's air conditioned!

And the people love working there. That's the major difference. They truly respect the chef and really like working at the club.

And man, it was BUSY! On top of having a new menu and a full dining room full of members, they had a HUGE party. It was just fascinating to me to watch.

I plated 2 appetizers for the party and made a fruit salad. Because it was so busy they didn't have a lot of time to hold my hand, which I liked. On Sunday though, they'll walk me through some things and get me more involved.

I can't wait. It was a great decision.

If you're looking to make a great decision for yourself today, go on over to Greg's blog and answer his fun questions about Elementary School.

First of all-no one says "Porridge" anymore Goldilocks...

Why do the people of New England-specifically CT-drive like an 80 year old without her glasses when it rains but like a hormonal teenage boy in a Mustang when it snows?

I got attacked by a goose on the way into work today. For real. It grunted at me.

And when I jumped away from it, I cracked the heal of my boot. Nice.

I actually kind of like the new kid-you know, the one who reminds me of the guy in The Mask. The one who scared me the entire time I've been in school...the one who my classmates teased me about...yeah, him.

I like him even though I know that he stayed back because of his attendance.

"It's jailhouse ROCK!" said in between giggles still cracks me up. In fact, I want to tell everyone I see the story. I don't. But I want to.

My new cell phone is a piece of shit. It works everywhere so far except in my living room, my office and perhaps my bedroom-all of the places in my house that I use it.

The first week back to school after vacation is wicked rough. I'm a zombie today again. Luckily-Thursday-Wednesday is the "official" vacation from school and so I have 3 more days off.

Please stop groaning when you are going to the bathroom. If it hurts that much-you need to see someone. But I don't want to hear it anymore.

It makes me wonder if you do it when you are alone in there, or if it's just for "show".

Why anyone would groan to make people feel bad for them is beyond me. Especially when it involves pooping.

Thank you to my (Bratty) friend Callie for honoring me by choosing "Tomorrows Gate" as her favorite post of 2007. I'm very happy that it's touched you so deeply.

I want to write something for you guys-but my brain is so tired...I promise...soon.

Toosdae ?'s

Happy May Day everyone! Grab some friends and talk a walk around the May pole....or-answer these questions instead! Have a great day!

1. What was your favorite thing to play at recess in elementary school?

2. Were you bullied or a bully on the playground?

3. Did you ever eat anything such as paste just to see what it tasted like? If yes, did you like it?

4. Have you ever stuck your tongue to a cold pole to see if it would stick? Did it?

1. When I was really young my favorite thing was the swings. As I got older I like to play kickball and four square but the swings were always my favorite. I liked the wind in my face.

2. I was bullied until 6th grade by 3 girls-Nicole, Reagan and Daisy. Luckily they all went to a Private Catholic school after that and I didn't see them much after that.

3. I ate paste once in pre-school. I actually remember the day-where I was sitting, even what I was wearing. And I remember that my Nana came to get me that day just as I was putting it in my mouth. She said, "Oh, Mags-that's not for eating." I said, "It's good!" but I really didn't think it was. I tried my hardest to keep a smile on my face, but when I turned around I scraped my tongue with a piece of paper.

4. I have and it did not stick, luckily. And also, I was not a kid when I did it!

Senior: Day 1

Remember when I wrote this in a Randomivity Post a couple of weeks ago?

*You remind me of the kid in that Cher movie "The Mask" and you're not attractive. On top of that, your red hair makes you look a little freakish, and when you dance in the dark, I am a little bit scared for my life. So, no-I do not find you funny.

Well...that kid stayed back. And now he's in our class.

This is funny to one person in particular, I know. But really-from day one, this kid scared me. He's weird looking and odd and he freaks me out.

And now he's in my class.

He's actually pretty nice, but not very bright. And he doesn't clean very well.

Unfortunately for him, the chef instructors don't like him-which will make it harder for him. I imagine just failing his senior mod (last week) is tough for him, and so I'm giving him a break. But it's hard to have someone in our class now-with only 3 months to go.

He did help me mop the floors though-and we're in the big boy kitchen (again) finally. So, that was cool.

We made Chinese food tonight. Yum. Woka Woka Woka...

Sleepy today...very, very sleepy...

Not staying silent, simply can't...think.

Perhaps I will be back later.

First day back to school since vacation. Senior.

Pants, very wrinkled. Were not wrinkled when I put them on. Now: wrinkled. Feel like slob.

May fall asleep in boring weekly meeting. Ugh.
